Will the Jamo i300 work with the latest Apple iPhones and iPod / iPod Touch models
The Jamo i300 will work with all types of iPods, iPod Touch and iPhones (including the iPhone 4). Non-dockable 1st and 2nd generation iPods will have to be hooked up via the auxiliary inputs.
Video issues:
The iPod Nano Video and the iPod Classic provide a video output of a type which may not be compatible with the i300. Both models use a different video output and were released after the i300 was designed and manufactured.
Please note that the Audio output is fully compatible with these iPod models.

Will the Marantz IS-201 Dock work with the iPod Classic and iPod Nano Video?
The iPod Nano Video and the iPod Classic provide a video output of a type which is not compatible with the IS201. Both models use a new, different video output and have been made after the IS201 was designed and manufactured. The ‘Video’ output setting (‘On/Off/Ask First’) on an iPod Nano Video or IPod Classic cannot be accessed whilst inserted into the IS201 dock.
Please note that the audio output and on-screen menu display (for track listings, playlists, etc) is fully compatible with the IS201. The Marantz IS201 iPod dock is designed to be fully compatible (audio, video and onscreen menu display) with the following Apple iPod models:
• iPod Video (5th generation)
• iPod Nano (1st & 2nd generations)
• iPod U2 edition
• iPod Mini
• iPod Photo (4th generation)
• iPod with Click wheel (4th generation)
• iPod with Touch wheel (3rd generation)
From which model AV Receiver does HD audio start from in Marantz?
Marantz AV Receiver models NR1501, SR5004, SR6004, SR7002, SR8002 and AV/MM8003 decode all current Dolby and DTS HD audio signals.
Models SR3053 and SR4003 will accept HD audio from HDMI as 7.1 channel PCM from a Blu-ray player. You just have to set the output of the player to “PCM conversion”. Easy! The sound quality is EXACTLY the SAME as HD audio sent to a HD-decoder receiver.
The SR9600 is compatible with HD audio using its 7.1 analogue input. Many Blu-ray players have a 5.1 or 7.1 analogue output, which will work perfectly with the SR9600.
What is Dolby Digital Plus?
Essentially it’s a higher performance version of Dolby Digital
Its features include:
- Multichannel sound with discrete channel output
- Channel and program extensions can carry multichannel audio programs of up to 7.1 channels on HD DVD and support multiple programs in a single encoded bitstream
- Outputs a Dolby Digital bitstream for playback on existing Dolby Digital systems (so it’s backwards compatible
- Supports data rates as high as 6 Mbps. Bit rate performance of at least 3 Mbps on HD DVD and up to 1.7 Mbps on Blu-ray Disc
- Interactive mixing and streaming capability in advanced systems
- Supported by HDMI™ version 1.3, the single-cable digital connection for high-definition audio and video
- Selected as the mandatory audio format for HD DVD and as an optional audio format for the Blu-ray Disc
What is Dolby Digital TrueHD?
Dolby® TrueHD is Dolby’s next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. (The original Dolby Digital 5.1 is what is called a LOSSY format, which means it's compressed). Dolby TrueHD delivers sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master "unlocking the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs. When coupled with high-definition video, Dolby TrueHD offers an unprecedented home theatre experience that lets you enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture".
Some features include:
- 100 percent lossless coding technology. Audio is bit-for-bit identical to studio masters on playback
- Up to 18 Mbps bit rate
- Supports up to eight full-range channels of 24-bit/96 kHz audio*
- Supported by High-Definition Media Interface (HDMI™ Version 1.3) single-cable digital connection for audio and video
- Selected as the mandatory format for HD DVD and as an optional format for Blu-ray Disc

Which Marantz AV Receivers offer a video conversion feature?
The SR4003, NR1501, SR5004, SR6004, SR7002, SR8002 and SR9600 offer some form of video conversion.
- SR4002 / SR4001 / SR4003: S-video up to component, s-video down to composite
- SR5002 / SR5001 / SR9600: Composite video up to s-video and component, Component down to s-video and composite
- NR1501: Full video conversion from composite and component up to HDMI
- SR5004 / SR5003 / SR6001 / SR7002 / SR8002 / SR7001 / SR8002: Full video conversion from composite up to s-video, component and HDMI; full video down conversion from component, s-video and composite
Note: Video conversion does not function for multi-zone video outputs. Composite video must be input to feed multi-zone composite video outputs (SR7001, SR7002, SR8001, SR8002, SR9600). Component video must be input to feed multi-zone component video outputs (SR8001, SR8002).
